Zombie Flash Fiction

One of my favorite things is zombie movies. Well, anything zombies. I love the idea of people having to survive and work together in the midst of a global threat. Apocalypse scenarios are interesting because it forces people to come together. I am working on a series of flash fiction stories. Check it out. If you like it, I will put up part 2.

My First Sports Article: Three Reasons Brett Favre is a Bum

I really enjoy writing sports articles. Its a nice change of pace from writing poems all the time. I've always enjoyed writing nonfiction that creates fire sparks on the page because it is very difficult to do and requires time and practice. Anyway, I like throwing in a bit of opinion to my sports articles so to all Favre fans....enter if you dare!

Three Reasons Brett Favre is a Bum

Stupid Is

My good buddy Guy Hogan writes poetry and flash fiction in a really fresh, cool, and unique style. Lately, I have really been trying to emulate his form. Its not as easy as he makes it look but hey, you cant get anywhere unless you try!

A good friend and blogger: Leslie Moon

Leslie Moon is a good friend of mine. She runs her own blog with a huge team of poets. She has a passion for writing and I look up to her as a mentor. I met her through twitter and she has helped me so much. She even published an article on me on her blog which was amazing. It's a cool feeling to know someone chose YOU and YOUR work to be on THEIR site. It was just a really special feeling. If you love poetry, I'd recommend getting in touch with her. She has lots of wisdom to offer. You can find her at twitter here: Leslie Moon

Her blog is called One shot poetry and features many poets of various ages and backgrounds. Everyone has an interesting story to tell and Leslie Moon accepts anyone willing to work hard and provide well thought out poetry that is appropriate and done with effort. Check her blog out here: One Shot Poetry

Rhyming

I've been on it since a baby.
Wowing the big kids and the ladies.
With my little boy charm.
And my Avies so shady.
I used to love to play.
Bop, twist, kiss, pull it.

Now repeat after me.
Simon says put your hand on red.
Put your hand on mine.
Lets read a story together before bed.
And nothing's gotta be said.
I got a bear named Ted.
And for you I'm willing to share.

So lets pretend I am the prince of a faraway land.
You are the princess who could never understand.
Why your parents always had to nag and reprimand.
When you just wanted someone to give you their hand.

Lets stand tall.
Fly away from it all.
As our parents call saying play time is over.
Yet we dont stall.
We just fly higher.
In the sky.
Put the fuel in the fire.

And when we tire from our play dream fantasies
We will come back to reality.
And face what comes.
Standing tall.
No fallacy.

*Avies: short for aviator sunglasses

Rhythm and Poetry

What is rap? Is it merely throwing words around in a frenzy of unrelated words that rhyme such as "The cat ate a bat. My puppy sat." Definitely not. Rap is harder than it looks and takes a lot of skill and patience and cleverness. My buddy Max Bracero, an aspiring rapper understands this as much as anyone trying to get their stuff out into the public. You can read about him here. He is very talented.

Welcome to "Matty Writes"

Hey. You may be visiting because you are a friend of mine, family member, or just someone who happened to stumble upon this link and clicked out of curiosity. If you are curious, open minded, and creative then you will get entertainment from this blog, "Matty Writes". We all have our hobbies and the most important hobby of mine is writing because a blank sheet of paper does not judge, censor, or argue. It simply wants to be filled with words, payed attention to, and given a story to represent. In a way, I am the paper's creator and the paper is the jar that holds my words. The e writer-paper relationship is a two way street. They need each other to live a happy life. The paper has always given things to me, be it enjoyment, self-fulfilment, or a way to vent. And I promise to always give back.

I really hope you like it here. Bare with me for the first few weeks since I am very new to this. I am going to start by posting some articles I have published on various websites through Triond, which I recommend to writers trying to get their work constructively criticized while earning money based on the amount of views of your published works. It may seem overwhelming and there are many nutjobs on that site that aren't so friendly but if you look around the forums and see how things work, you will mold your way into the site and find people who will help you. And trust me, they are there somewhere! You just have to look. One person I would recommend getting in touch with is Guy Hogan. He is a great dedicated writer and I look up to him and respect him. You can find him here.

Also, the first user to show me how online publishing works is REPuckett. He is a mentor and great friend to me. He's the first person who truly reached out to me. If it weren't for Puck, I'd probably give up on this whole online writing thing which I now consider apart of me since I work on it daily. You can find REPuckett here. He is very interesting to talk to and a genuine caring person.

My good buddy Bo Jack Russo also helped me out a lot in online publishing. He has a good amount of experience in putting oneself out there in the online writing business. He is gutsy with his writing and isn't too shy to express his opinions especially in sports. He is my favorite sports writer. You can find him here.

Now that Triond taught me the root basics of online writing, I am ready to challenge myself and gain more recognition and amigos through this blog. Sure, I will try my best with grammar but this is my empty page and I am going to fill it with words and give it life regardless of misspellings and misuse of commas.

If you are interested in joining triond go to www.triond.com and you can help me out (not saying I am begging you to if you want to check it out first just click on the regular link!) this is my referral link which simply gives me an earning bonus when one of my referrals earns money. *I do not take your money and you do not earn any less for being my referral I just earn when you earn.*
Heres the referral link. Referral Welcome to "Matty Writes"!
