Helium Poems

I also write for a site called Helium. Some of my best work is on this site and since I've only been linking my Triond articles to this blog, I feel that I should show you some of my pieces on Helium as well. I will do that tomorrow afternoon. Until then, goodnight to whomever is reading this...if anyone is reading this.

Mavericks: Champs of 2011

If anyone reads this blog at all, I'd just like to point out that the Mavs won the championship, obviously, and also, that I, Matty Zaretsky, predicted it would end like this! I have textual proof on a previous article I wrote, as posted on the links of this blog on March 6th that the Dallas Mavericks would win the NBA finals because of their great depth, especially on the bench. Here is the article that dared to go against the favorites; the article that was risky, confident, almost arrogant of a prediction that accurately summarized the NBA Playoffs. Here it is! Revel in the Mavs victory tonight, folks! Hopefully, the first of many championships and with Caron Butler coming back from injury next season, if we resign him, next year is looking very promising! But for now, its all about 2011. Go MAVS!

Life

Have you ever wondered what your purpose was, not in school or in your house or in your business or athletic team, but in life itself? Why are we here, right now in this moment? If you are reading this, why did the random events between your birth and now bring you to this site, reading my words, asking questions I definitely have no clue how to answer. Are you on this page for a reason? Am I writing this for a reason? Or is this event going to trigger a chain of events that will lead to your defining moment, completely unrelated to this topic, only sparking another event which will create a chain eventually leading to something big? Could that be our purpose?

Are we all truly here, for each other? For fellow man? Are we here to spark chains of events for people to find love, happiness, success, or freedom?

Why are we alive? What's our purpose? Are we supposed to even have one? Should we go about our lives and mind our own business about how this thing called existence came into play?

2011 Western Conf. Finals: Dallas Mavericks vs. Oklahoma City Thunder

"Most people thought the Western Conference Finals would be hosted, at least, by either the #1 seed Spurs or the returning champion Lakers. However, neither the returning champ or the top seed will be taking the court tonight. Instead, the West will be won by either the experienced Mavs or the young and talented Thunder. There are many things to look out for in this series. I can’t think of any two teams in this years playoffs that contrast more then Dallas and OKC.

The Mavericks are a talented team filled with..."

2011 Western Conf. Finals

Big Article Coming On Mavs-Thunder Series

I am finalizing a BIG preview of the upcoming Western Conference Finals Series between my favorite team, the good guys, the Dallas Mavericks against the young, talented, very capable Thunder. There are specific aspects that can make or break either team in this series. Stay tuned in.

Insert Title Here

If a man can reprimand his #1 biggest fan,
Then go on and do the same thing, does that make him powerful or a hypocrite?

If a child asks his mother what about life is worth while,
And she just give him a bogus answer as she puffs on her cigarette, is she doing the best thing for her kid?

If said child rides his bike to the lake,
and tosses pennies down wondering how long it takes for them to plummet to the bottom does this make him crazy or a visionary?

If a clerk gives a stray dog a piece of his lunch each day without making it sit,
is this dog understanding the meaning of hard work?

Are we all looking upon each other as inferior beings because we ourselves are tired of being sat on Uncle's lap?

Do we treat others like they owe us something because that was how we were treated before?

Because we endured being second place does that mean we have to blockade the next ones' of reaching first?

Break can make you broken if local

I've been on spring break for about 3 days now and although I enjoy the rest I am getting, it sortof sucks! I feel as if I am the only person in my whole bubble of existence that has not migrated to ski out west or soak up the sun down south and in the islands. This leaves me, my annoying brother, annoying parents, annoying dogs, and annoying cat. I love them all to death, however, being cooped up with them for the past few days has taken its toll on me. There is really nothing else to do but blog and play video games and lately, NBA 2k11 does not suffice the stimulation and entertainment fix I need. I've been getting outside to shoot hoops at my neighbors house, which is always an awkward experience since I feel like an intruder, and despite the awkwardness, this has been the most relaxing part of my break. I can listen to the *koof* the net makes as the ball sails through it when you shoot the coveted "swish" shot. I love it. I could shoot for hours if I didn't have to worry about the fact that the hoop wasn't actually mine. Anyway, other than popping trey balls at my neighbor's, this break so far has been mediocre. It is nice to have my brother home and next week all my boys will be home so I'll have people to *koof* on when we play a pick up game. Until then, well...I really don't know! Gotta figure out stuff to do!

The Anticipated Prediction: Dallas Mavs Will Win it ALL!!!

Dallas Mavs are going to be the 2011 NBA CHAMPIONS!! Find out why they are the team that will win it all! Best bench in the NBA!

Dallas Mavericks: NBA Champions of 2011

Change of Pace: Sports Article on the way

I decided to give you guys a break from the poems so I wrote a sports article about my favorite NBA team, the Dallas Mavericks. As soon as the link is ready, I will put it up here for you guys to read. Don't mean to be a ball-buster, but the Lakers are not winning the trophy this year. Neither are the Celtics, Heat, Bulls, Knicks, Thunder, Spurs, or anyone else! The Mavs are taking it home and nice-guy-owner Mark Cuban of the Dallas Mavericks will hold the trophy with the Mavs team as champions of 2011. Trust me....talk to me in June and I'll say "told ya' so!"

Why Not Let Me be?

Another decent poem. As I said... better stuff is imminent! Stay tuned and spread the word

My Only Ration

Enjoy this poem guys...Better stuff is on the way. This is just a teaser

Newest Masterpiece

I wrote another short story, similar to "Sick In Love" which I recommend to read whenever you are thinking of that special someone. In similar fashion, this is a short love story about a boy and a girl who are both going to college next year. They are neighbors and have always been best friends but they both secretly have longed for it to blossom into a more intimate relationship for many years, yet neither of them were brave enough to face it and take  the risk together, at least until their night under the stars.

The Stars That Surround The Moon

Excellent Sports Blog

Derrel Johnson and Marc Rasbury run a sports blog I recommend any sports fan, especially if your a New Yorker, to read. It keeps its viewers up to date on league news, with recent posts pertaining to the current NBA power rankings and an incident at BYU. I've met Derrel in person and I must say, he is commited to his passion of sports writing and works hard. He gets around too, going to various sporting events throughout the tri-state area, including many Knicks games. His drive and motivation for his passion inspire me to go forth with my passion and dedication to creative writing. Derrel is a spitting image of how hard work pays off. He is also a great writer with strong opinions. Check his blog out.

Sorry for the wait but I got some good stuff for you

Hey, my bad for not blogging in a while. I've been really busy with basketball, school, midterms and just trying to enjoy senior year. In the time between my last post, I've written a lot of good stuff for you guys. Its not just poems... you're going to get some nice variety.

Daddy's Little Girl

This poem is about the common story of teenage girl with potential gone bad...with rhymes.

Life Talk
I kindof had an epiphany before I wrote this and had to put it on paper. I don't write this type of stuff too often but I think you will enjoy it.

Afterwards, I wrote another piece in the same style.
Life Talk: What We Are Not Makes Us Who We Are

Of course, I wrote a non creative article, just because you know I like to experiment. If you are a fan of www.karmaloop.com you will enjoy this article.
